Grupo CIO receives the Sello Empresa Solidaria in recognition of its social commitment

The Canary Islands-based company strengthens its commitment to Corporate Sustainability by receiving the Sello Empresa Solidaria (Socially Responsible Company Seal, a distinction recognising companies that allocate part of their corporate tax contribution to social impact projects.

Grupo CIO has been awarded the Sello Empresa Solidaria (Socially Responsible Company Seal, a distinction that recognises companies committed to generating a positive social impact. Promoted by Spain’s Third Sector Platform (Plataforma del Tercer Sector) in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda, the initiative recognises companies that select the Casilla Empresa Solidaria (Socially Responsible Company box) when filing their Corporate Income Tax return, thereby allocating 0.7% of their tax contribution to funding social projects.

For Grupo CIO, a Canary Islands-based business group with more than a century of history and a presence across the tourism, services and real estate sectors, this recognition represents another step forward in a journey in which sustainability plays a central role. Promoting the wellbeing of its team, contributing to the development of Canary Islands society and minimising its environmental impact are among the principles that guide decision-making across the Group’s companies.

What does the Sello Empresa Solidaria mean?

The Sello Empresa Solidaria is more than a symbolic distinction. It represents a voluntary initiative that connects the business community with the work of Spain’s Third Sector. By allocating 0.7% of Corporate Income Tax to social causes, companies help provide resources for organisations such as the Spanish Red Cross, Cáritas, ONCE and CERMI, among other social organisations, to develop projects that support people and communities.

The initiative also encourages collaboration between businesses and non-profit organisations, helping to build a stable and sustainable framework for social cooperation. Ultimately, it provides companies with an effective and traceable way to contribute, through their own business activity, towards building a fairer and more inclusive society.

Sustainability: a long-standing commitment at Grupo CIO

Receiving the Sello Empresa Solidaria is not an isolated achievement, but a natural continuation of Grupo CIO’s structured approach to sustainability. Every year, the company publishes its Sustainability Report, outlining its progress, challenges and achievements in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda and the Canary Islands 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

This commitment is also reflected in specific Corporate Responsibility policies across the Group’s companies, including Bahía del Duque, Record Lavandería y Limpieza and Grupo Inmobiliario Islas Occidentales, as well as in a Social Action Policy that guides Grupo CIO’s contribution to the Canary Islands community.

Within this framework, the Sello Empresa Solidaria reinforces Grupo CIO’s purpose: to demonstrate that business activity and social commitment can progress hand in hand, creating value not only for the organisation itself, but also for the communities and environment in which it operates.

With this recognition, Grupo CIO reaffirms its commitment to continuing to set high standards not only within its areas of business, but also in its approach to sustainability and its long-term commitment to the Canary Islands.
