Mr. Luis Zamorano Tais receives the award Fernando Jiménez Jiménez offered by the CEOE-Tenerife
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, April 2016.- The CEOE-Tenerife has granted the Prize Fernando Jiménez Jiménez posthumously to Mr. Luis Zamorano Tais, recognizing his career and contribution to the business landscape of The Canary Islands.
The awards ceremony, which will be attended by his son, D. Francisco Javier Zamorano, President of the Grupo CIO, (www.grupo-cio.com/), and which will take place tomorrow in the Presidency building, will also recognize others, such as D. Leopoldo Cólogan Ponte, who will receive the International Entrepreneur Award Pedro Luis Cobiella Suárez, and Mr. Fernando López Arvelo, who will receive the Entrepreneur Award Francisco Oramas Tolosa.
Considered as one of the pioneers of industry in The Canary Islands, D. Luis Zamorano Tais diversified his business and was president and/or founder of many companies, such as Siete Mares (dedicated to the import of meat products), Frigoten (frozen food products), Montesano (ham and charcuterie products), Aguas de Vilaflor (Fuentealta water bottling plant), the supermarket San Antonio, the first one in Tenerife and CITA Tobacco of The Canary Islands.
He also created “Ganigo” the most exclusive Art Gallery on the island and made his first foray into the real estate sector, investing in residential and industrial buildings.
Mr. Luis Zamorano Tais was an example of consistency, dedication and commitment to his work, as well as of entrepreneurial courage, which is reflected in the creation of wealth and employment, values that he transmitted to his family and which still persist in the philosophy of the Company.
