Grupo CIO, in line with its commitment to the environment and the community, held a day of environmental volunteering on Playa Grande beach at Porís de Abona, in the municipality of Arico, together with the Terramare association. The foundation Fundación Tutelar Sonsoles Soriano participated as a guest at the event, which was supported by the Volunteering Office of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Town Council of Arico, and the company Fuentealta.

The day’s main activity, which also spread to the surroundings and paths adjacent to the beach, was coastline cleaning, which included an environmental awareness workshop run by the Terramare association. To end the day, the volunteers enjoyed a paella from the caterer APJ, a social economy project organised by the foundation Fundación Canaria’ El Buen Samaritano’.

‘At Grupo CIO, we firmly believe in encouraging initiatives that combine social and environmental commitment. In addition to enabling us to actively contribute to cleaning up our natural environment, this initiative also promotes awareness about the need to protect our planet while bringing the importance of inclusive projects into the limelight. We are delighted to collaborate with Terramare and Fundación Tutelar Sonsoles Soriano once again on this day and to bring our team and the community together in a joint effort for a more sustainable future,’ stated José Enrique Ascanio, the head of Corporate Sustainability at Grupo CIO.

There were 47 participants in total, including people from the Grupo CIO team, volunteers and technicians from Terramare, users of Fundación Tutelar Sonsoles Soriano, and volunteers of Arico and other environmental entities on the island.

Since 2018, Grupo CIO has worked together with Terramare to organise different environmental activities. This collaboration reflects Grupo CIO’s firm commitment to sustainability and environmental friendliness, encouraging community engagement to help protect and conserve our natural spaces.
